<p>A system that guarantees reliable data transmission for one-to-many and/or many-to-many communications amongst data processing stations. One or more general participant stations (24) connected to a shared communications facility serves as a source and/or destination of information. A retransmission station (20) receives input data from the general participant stations (24), generates a special message header (44), and retransmits the message on the network. A designated recorder station (29) ensures messages sent from the retransmission station (20) are correct. A playback recorder station (26) listens to and stores the messages from the retransmission station either entirely or selectively. If this station detects missing or corrupted messages, it obtains the correct information from the designated recorder station. Whereas a general participant station obtains the correct information from this playback recorder station. A management station (22) may be used to handle housekeeping and security related functions.</p> |
