Process for the non-polluting disposal of mineral oils and mineral oil-like substances

For the non-polluting disposal of mineral oils or mineral oil-like substances, these are dispersed chemically by calcium oxide made hydrophobic, to which are added nutrients to support microbial degradation, the calcium hydroxide initially formed is allowed to convert into the carbonate and the mineral oils finely dispersed therein are biodegraded. Adsorptive substances such as bentonite, sawdust or ground bark are preferably added to the modified calcium oxide before it is brought into contact with the mineral oil. The process is also suitable for treating contaminated soils and contaminated anthropogenic sludges.
