VALVE WITH SAFETY VENT SEAL

A safety vent seal is provided for assuring a release path for the residual volatile beverage that can be expected to be found within a disposable container. The container is of a type that is sealed by means of a ball valve in which an inner valve member (42) is urged toward a sealing relationship with an outer valve member (44) by a semi-compressed spring (40). The safety vent seal (100, 120) may be located either between the inner valve and the outer valve (Fig. 4) or between the outer valve and the valve body (Fig. 9). In the former case, the safety vent seal is generally cross-shaped (Fig. 5) while, in the latter case, the seal is generally ''C-shaped'' (Fig. 10). In both configurations, the seal expands as a consequence of the tapping of the valve and inserts itself between valve elements to prevent reclosure of the same.
