PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head having excellent environmental resistance and high reliability, by fixing a ferrite chip core to a slider using a specific glass composition composed mainly of Bi2O3, PbO, SiO2 and B2O3. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head is produced by impregnating a molten glass composition between a ferrite chip core and a slider, thereby fixing both parts. The temperature of the glass composition is adjusted to give a viscosity of 10<4>-10<4.5> poise. The glass composition is composed mainly of Bi2O3, PbO, SiO2 and B2O3 and contains 3-30(mol)% Bi2O3, 1-41% PbO, 30-50% SiO2 and 1-20% B2O3 provided that Bi2O3+PbO>30% and 60%>SiO2+B2O3>45%. The molar ratio of SiO2/B2O3 is >2. The composition contains at least one kind of Li2O, Na2O, K2O or ZnO as the remaining part at an amount of 1-10% Li2O, 1-10% Na2O, 1-10% K2O and 1-7% ZnO. |
