The door or window element has a roller shutter guided in side profiles. The end of this is fixed a winding spindle inside an open-bottomed case, closed by a cover. The box chamber (7) in the roller shutter case (4) is formed by at least one insulating element (5). It has a bottom box opening (19), in front of the outside surface of the window or door (20). This is closed by the cover, or board (26), which is connected to the window or door's outside surface. The opening may be located between this surface and the guide profile (14) for the shutter (10). The operating belt can run on the outside.
