A conventional recording machine, e.g. a facsimile, is used in which sheets of heat-sensitive material pass a thermal head and are transferred to a receiving tray; to reduce jamming within the machine caused by static electricity on friction of the sheets and plastics machine parts, the sheets have an antistatic agent added, preferably at 0-01-1.0 g/m<2>, e.g. in a backing layer, so that their frictional charge is reduced to -0.55x10<-10> to 1.10x10<-10> coulomb/cm<2> when rubbed under pressure against a sample of the receiving tray material under specific test conditions (Figs. 1-2). Five general formulae are shown of suitable antistatic agents, and 18 specific compounds. Color forming components can be triarylmethanes, etc. and a color developer or diazo compounds and a coupler. The machine can operate for an extended period without significant jamming.
