The air cleaner 5 has an electromotor-driven fan 6 which is provided with an air inlet opening 8 and at least one air outlet opening 9 and with a filter 10, 12 arranged in the air duct 7. In this arrangement, the air duct, which comes from the air inlet opening 8, is of angular, preferably rectangular construction and the plane of each air outlet opening 9 is arranged at right angles in relation to that of the air inlet opening 8, and at least two filters are provided, namely a non-woven 10 and an activated carbon filter 12.
