PURPOSE:To improve the cooling performance in the upper part of a cylinder liner by providing, on the circumference of the upper part of the cylinder liner, a plurality of notches, which are caused to open outward in the radial direction and extend in the axial direction of the cylinder liner, at nearly equal distances. CONSTITUTION:Both the upper part 17a of a cylinder liner and the phi part 17b of the cylinder liner being in a row with the above are surrounded by a reinforcing ring 18 which is placed commonly to each other, and then, on the lower part of the reinforcing ring 18 is arranged a supporting unit 20, which is referred to as 'cylinder block' or the like. In addition, on the circumference of the upper part 17a of the cylinder liner are provided a plurality of notches 24, which are formed into a comparatively narrow shape by way of milling or the like, in such a manner that they are caused to open outward in the radial direction and located at nearly equal distances. And further, on the phi part 17b of the cylinder liner is provided an annular groove 27, which is formed into much smaller diameter, and then, a coolant passage 26 is caused to open into the groove 27, and at the same time, a coolant passage 29 is formed by both the annular groove 27 and the reinforcing ring 18, and a coolant inflow hole 30 is caused to open into the passage 29. |
