PURPOSE:To enable the access of a pressure waveform in a combustion chamber of a test engine to characteristics at the operation by ignition, by a method wherein a compressor is prepared to generate the maximum pressure at an angle of rotation that ensures the maximum combustion pressure as the test engine is operated by ignition and a fluid discharged from the compressor is introduced to the test engine to apply a pressure thereto as approximate to that at the operation by ignition. CONSTITUTION:A compressor which is driven to rotate together with a test engine is prepared to generate the maximum pressure at an angle of rotation that ensures the maximum combustion pressure as the test engine is operated by ignition and a liquid discharged from the compressor is introduced to the test engine to apply a pressure thereto as approximate to that at the operation by ignition. This enables a combustion chamber of the test engine to be supplied with such a high pressure that peaks at an angle of rotation that ensures the maximum combustion pressure when the test engine is operated by ignition from the compressor even during a motoring test, thereby allowing a perfect simulation.
