The invention relates to a protection module, of plug-in type, in which a tubular gas lightning arrestor 3 is held by two conductive holding pieces 6, 7 which enable this lightning arrestor to be connected, on the one hand, to bottom and/or input tabs 4A, 4B of the cell in which the plug-in component is seated, via at least one linking blade 8 integral with the module, and on the other hand to an earth tab 5 of the cell. The protection module includes at least one thermal arrangement which provides for the cutting out of circuit of the lightning arrestor in the event of a rise in its temperature. This arrangement consists of a conductive loopback blade linked electrically to the earth tab and arranged so as to come into contact with a conductive portion linked to one of the input and/or bottom tabs. The loopback blade is retained elastically apart from the conductive portion 7 by virtue of its fixing to an element of the module by way of an adhesive 90, which is solid only below a specified threshold temperature. <IMAGE>
