PURPOSE:To make it possible to control traction force with the use of a vehicle speed detecting device for an all wheel drive vehicle, by computing a rotational speed from the speeds of wheels so that the lowest rotational speed is used as a speed corresponding to the vehicle speed. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 18 receives pulse signals from wheel rotational speed detectors 16A-16D through shaping circuits 17A-17D, and computes the rotational speeds of the wheels in accordance with the signals to smooth the speeds of the wheels. Further, the lowest rotational speed is selected to be used as a speed corresponding to the vehicle speed and is set as a reference speed VS. With this arrangement, it is possible to obtain a signal corresponding to the vehicle speed, thereby it is possible to control traction force or the like.
