PURPOSE:To correctly further automatically correct a lead error, by calculating a lead correction value by signals from a detecting means for the length of a lead screw and a work screw and a measuring means for each temperature of a coolant, room and a grinding machine and controlling the lead screw and a driving unit by an arithmetic signal. CONSTITUTION:While a grinding wheel 5 performs grinding along a thread groove of a work screw 4, if the work screw 4 and a lead screw 6 are fine displaced in the length by increasing temperatures of a coolant, room and a machine main unit, measured values of these temperatures and values of the displacement are input to an arithmetic unit 10. If the arithmetic result reaches a limit value having possibility of generating a lead error, the arithmetic unit 10 feeds a lead correction signal on the basis of this limit value to a numerical control unit 22. The numerical control unit 22, receiving this signal, controls a driving unit 21 to drive servomotors 19, 20 in a condition adding a correction value, and the unit rotates the work screw 4 by a main spindle 2 wile moves a table 1 by the lead screw 6 so as to perform correction driving preventing the lead error from being generated, in this way, correct thread grinding is performed by the grinding wheel 5.
