PURPOSE:To realize the miniaturization, weight-saving, cost reduction and the like of an appliance through the miniaturization and cost reduction of a transformer by a method wherein the winding of a transformer, which is necessary for the breakdown by a Shockley diode, is eliminated. CONSTITUTION:The voltage transmitted from an oscillator 27 is power-amplified by a transistor 28, transmitted by a transformer 29, rectified by a diode 30 and smoothed by a capacitor 31 in order to drive an electromagnetic valve 32 by means of the resultant smoothed voltage. In addition, the voltage developed in the primary winding of the transformer 29 due to the oscillation of the transformer 29 is transmitted under the current-limited state to the following stage so as to store the electric charge, which is obtained through the diode 34 to prevent the resultant current from backflowing, in a capacitor 35. When the voltage of the capacitor 35 exceeds a certain fixed voltage, a Shockley diode 36 breaks down and turns into a short-circuited state. The sharp voltage change at this time is boosted by a boosting transformer 37 and discharged, while the resultant counter electromotive force is absorbed by a diode 38.
