PURPOSE:To obtain a silver halide photographic sensitive material having excellent color reproducibility, and excellent photographic performances such as sensitivity, gradation and fogging by adding specific compds. into an emulsion contg. an azole magenta coupler. CONSTITUTION:At least one layer of the silver halide emulsion layer of a silver halide photographic sensitive material having the silver halide emulsion on a base contains the magenta coupler expressed by formula [I] and at least one compd. selected from the compds. expressed by formula [II] and formula [III]. Said layer contains a water soluble iron compd. at >=1X10<-6>g in terms of iron atoms per (g) of the gelatin contained in said layer. In formulas, Z denotes a nonmetallic atomic group necessary for forming a nitrogenous heterocyclic group, X denotes a hydrogen atom or substituent which can be eliminated by reaction with the oxidant of a color developing agent, R denotes a hydrogen atom or substituent, X1 and X2 denote a halogen atom, carboxylic acid group, etc., and R1 denotes a halogen atom or monovalent group. n1-n3, n5-n7 denote integers. |
