PURPOSE:To enable a detailed inspection, by providing an inspection panel with a photosensor matrix to detect display characteristics of corresponding individual pixels. CONSTITUTION:An inspection panel 1 has photosensors arranged in a matrix structure having a similar pitch to pixels 3 of a liquid crystal display unit 2. The size of a light receiving section of the sensors 4 is set smaller than that of the pixels to prevent a possible moire fringe when the panel 1 is put on the unit 2 during an inspection. The panel 1 is so arranged facing the unit 2 that the matrix of the sensor 4 on the panel 1 coincides with the matrix of the pixels of the unit 2. Then, as upon the lighting of the unit 2, light from the pixels irradiates the sensor 4 corresponding to the panel 1. The sensor 4 detecting the incident light from the pixels 3 generates a detection signal which is transmitted to a signal electrode through a switching element to be memorized 14 through a signal detection circuit 13. In addition, the detection signal is inputted into a computer 15 from a memory 14 to evaluate displays property of the unit 2 accurately.
