PURPOSE:To decode the contents of each bit data out of a read-out output and to execute normal data reproduction by measuring a period based on clock information recorded in an initial area on a track and generating a read gate signal at every recorded period. CONSTITUTION:The 1st and 2nd magnetic heads 1 and 2 of a data reproducing device read information of a timing track 4 and a data track 5 on a magnetic card 3, and binarization circuits 6 and 7 binarize said information. A binarization output from the circuit 6 and a count-up signal from an initial clock counter 9 are applied to a control circuit 8, and a binarization output from the circuit 7 is applied to the circuit 8 by a rise holding circuit 13. A clock period counter 11 and a stroke generator circuit 12 process the oscillation clock of an oscillator 10, and apply a permission signal and a strobe signal to the circuit 8. The read gate signal is generated at every period recorded on the card 3, and the contents of each bit data are decoded from the read-out output.
