The invention is a method and device for centring machine tools with a field (16) for reception of work piece and with a spindle (18) at a right angle to this field which can be shifted in a straight line relative to the surface in its transverse direction along at least one coordinate (19). The method involves connecting a tilt indicator (20) with the spindle (18), centred on this, and that the spindle is centred between two level faces (14) which are positioned across the coordinate at a right angle against the field at a known mutual distance, with use of the tilt indicator, whose tilt arm (21) is set alternately against the first and the second surface during monitoring of the slightest reading on the tilt indicator. The spindle is thereafter adjusted in a position in which the tilt indicator gives the same reading against a work piece (17) set up on the field as it gives in centred position, whereby the spindle axel (18') is situated at a distance from the work piece that is equal to half the distance between the surfaces. The device for execution of this method consists of a body (10) with a level underside (11) and a track (13) on its upper side, which is delimited by said level faces (14), which are positioned at a right angle to the level underside at the said mutual distance.<IMAGE> |
