摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a quick and high-performance liquid crystal optical shutter whose power consumption is low by driving a negative liquid crystal display element in accordance with the transmission state of a liquid crystal optical shutter and driving a positive liquid crystal display element for only a prescribed time after the release of driving of the negative liquid crystal display element. CONSTITUTION:A negative liquid crystal display element 1 is driven by a driving signal (a), and its transmission and light shielding state is as shown by a figure (c). A positive liquid crystal display element 2 is driven by a driving signal (b), and its transmission state is as shown in a figure (d). The driving signal (a) is applied to the negative liquid crystal display element 1 to set the negative liquid crystal display element 1 to the transmission state, and the driving signal of this element 1 is broken, and the driving signal (b) is applied to the positive liquid crystal display element 2. Thus, the light shielding state or the transmission state is switched to the transmission state or the light shielding state quickly, and the power consumption is reduced because the positive liquid crystal display element is driven for only the prescribed time.
