PURPOSE:To make the maximum moving distance of a optical scanning system almost equal to the maximum length of an original to be scanned and reduce the size and cost of a optical scanning device and, at the same time, simplify the constitution of the device, by causing a stepping motor to drive a scanning optical means. CONSTITUTION:A control circuit 61 drives a stepping motor 50 through a driver 62 and stops a supporting body 33 after moving the body 33 backward for a prescribed distance. Moreover, when the copy button of an operating section 60 is depressed, the control circuit 61 sets copying operations. If it becomes necessary to move the position of a lens 9 because of a variable power, etc., at the time of copying operations, the control circuit 61 drives a drive switching clutch 51 to switch to an optical system and moves the lens 9 to a prescribed position by driving the stepping motor 50 through the driver 62. Thereafter, the control circuit 61 switches the drive switching clutch 51 to the optical system and a photosensitive drum 10 is scanned and exposed by means of a lighting lamp 2, 1st-4th mirrors 5-8 and the lens 9 by causing supporting bodies 33 and 31 to move and scan. |
