PURPOSE:To readily obtain a molding compound of good interfacial bonding by formation of silanol group on the surface of glassy filler by moisture in the presence of an alpha,beta-unsaturated polyester followed by bonding coupling agent to said silanol group. CONSTITUTION:A blend comprising (A) an alpha,beta-unsaturated polyester with some acid value, (B) glassy filler, pref. glass balloon and (C) at least such amount of moisture as to be given by the equation is homogeneously agitated, being left to stand at room temperature for >=30min to form silanol by hydrolysis of the siloxane on the surface of the component B. At this time, (D) a coupling agent, pref. silane coupling agent is either made coexistent or added afterwards to be acted on the silanol to effect enhanced bonding between the components A and B followed by, if needed, incorporation of filler other than the filler B, curing catalyst and/or releasing agent to make a paste, through which the objective molding compound can be produced.
