PURPOSE:To provide a cooler which can prevent the decrease of the production capacity of low temp. heat treatment materials by providing water cooling jackets between cooling gas blow nozzles in a cooling zone of a continuous heat treatment furnace for metallic powder. CONSTITUTION:The water cooling jackets 20 are provided to a cooling gas plenum chamber 14 in the cooling zone 12 of the cooler of the heat treatment furnace for the metallic powder having the heating zone for a continuous heat treatment of the metallic powder and the cooling zone provided with the blow nozzles 16 for the cooling gas. The nozzles 16 are provided through the jackets 20. The low temp. heat treatment materials are thereby subjected to gas jet cooling within the range where the metallic powder 2 charged to a steel belt 6 does not splash; at the same time, the decrease of the cooling power is prevented by cooling of the jackets 20. The cooling capacity for ordinary high temp. heating material is also improved by the combination use of the gas jet cooling and water cooling jacket cooling, by which the production capacity of the heat treatment furnace is improved.
