PURPOSE:To enable the constitution of an entire fatigue limit machine for brittleness and heat, by providing a displacement applying mechanism, which applies static and repeated dynamic displacements having magnitude up to the breakage limit of a material, to a viscoelasticity testing machine to also use said testing machine as a material fatigue testing machine. CONSTITUTION:A fatigue and viscoelasticity testing machine is constituted of a pressure detector 1, a displacement detecting and strong electrostatic displacement applying vibration mechanism 2, a temp. adjusting tank 4 enveloping a specimen 3, a temp. detector 5 for detecting the temps. of the specimen 3 and the circumference thereof, an apparatus 6 for detecting stress, displacement, the phase during displacement and temp. and a testing machine stand 7. Then, the specimen 3 is mounted between the detector 1 and the mechanism 2 under tension and, as a fatigue testing machine, brittleness fatigue limit is shown by a SN curve (showing the relation between the repeated stress S of the material and the number N of repeating times up to breakage) and detected with respect to temp. Next, as an viscoelasticity testing machine, the viscoelasticity, that is, storage modulus of elasticity E' and loss modulus of elasticity E'' of the specimen is detected with respect to temp. and frequency and a heat fatigue limit is shown from such a condition that generated heat is equal to diffused heat due to the temp. difference with the circumference while the rising limit temp. of the material is shown in terms of fatigue limit when it is the softening point of the material.
