PRODUCTION OF CEPHALOSPORIN DERIVATIVE

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as an intermediate for producing a cephalosporin antibiotic substance having antibacterial activity, etc., economically on an industrial scale, by reacting a specific cephalosporin compound with a cultured product of microorganism belonging to Pseudomonas genus. CONSTITUTION:A 7beta-(carboxamide)-cephalosporanic acid derivative of formula II (R2 is COCOOH or COOH) is produced by reacting (A) a cephalosporin compound of formula I (R1 is H, OH or OCOCH3) or its salt with (B) a cultured product of a microorganism belonging to Pseudomonas genus [e.g. Pseudomonas sp. SE-83 (FERM P-7649)] or its treated product. The treated microbial cell is e.g. supernatant liquid produced by disintegrating the cell with ultrasonic vibration and removing solid component from the product by centrifugal separation.
