The invention relates to a method and a circuit for determining the speed of bodies (2) which are moving in a housing (1), particularly a guide housing. It is the object of the invention to measure the speed without using the Doppler effect. The speed is measured with the aid of pulses, the frequency of which is adapted to the geometry of the guide housing and which are reflected at a point of discontinuity within the guide housing (1). The distance between the transmitting and receiving antenna (6) of the transmission section (3) and the point of discontinuity is determined by means of the reflected received pulses and the known speed of propagation of electromagnetic waves. Repeating these measurements a number of times then allows the speed and/or the acceleration of the moving body (2) to be determined. <IMAGE>
