The invention relates to a method for controlling the slop application of aqueous solutions of chemical products. In this, the liquor application is to be controlled automatically in dependence on the fabric-web speed. This object is achieved in that, first of all, the functional relation between the circumferential speed of the slop roller and the liquor quantity conveyed by the slop roller in dependence on the liquor viscosity is determined experimentally. Thereafter, by using this relation, liquor application is controlled on the basis of the functional relation between the circumferential speed of the slop roller and the fabric speed, with the parameters, namely desired coating quantity and mass per unit area, being included.
