PURPOSE:To make it possible to automatically detect a printing flaw, by setting the feed pitch of continuous printed matter in synchronous relation to the arrangement pitch of the detection unit of a printing flaw detection apparatus. CONSTITUTION:One printer registering mark PM, density check marks NM and a positional shift check mark ZM are printed on the printing margin of continuous printed matter within a pitch CP three times the printing pitch of a picture pattern and a registering mark M is printed to the corner of each picture pattern. When said margin is scanned, the printer registering mark PM and the other marks NM, ZM are detected. Hereupon, the registering mark M is detected by scanning the corner of the picture pattern to count the number of said marks M and, if the printing margins are scanned at every pitch CP wherein the counted number comes to the integer time of 3, only the printer registering mark PM can be detected in synchronous relation to said detection signal while discriminating from other marks. In this case, on the basis of the first picture pattern having the printer registering mark PM printed thereon, only the objective printer registering mark PM can be accurately detected on and after. |
