Electro-acoustic transducer for underwater use

In an electro-acoustic transducer, particularly a hydrophone, with a piezoelectric ceramic tube which carries electrodes on its inner cylinder wall, with a holder which seals the face of the ceramic tube, and with a cast-around plastic sheath which hermetically seals the ceramic tube and the holder, to increase the working life of the transducer an access opening to the inside of the ceramic tube through the plastic sheath and the holder is provided, and can be sealed tight by a closure element. After the closure element has been removed, the inner space of the ceramic tube can be rinsed with a drying agent, so that the insulation resistance of the transducer, which is reduced over time by water vapour diffusion, is brought back to the original value. The transducer is thus regenerated, and completely functional again.
