NEW MATERIAL:Antibiotic lysocellin B. Properties: colorless oily substance. Elemental analysis (%): C 64.76, H 9.54, O 25.30. Molecular weight: 628. Molecular form: C34H60O10. Structural formula:shown by the formula. Solubility: easily soluble in acetone, methanol, ethanol, n-butanol, pyridine, chloroform and benzene and insoluble in water. Color reaction: negative in ninhydrin reaction, Molisch's reaction and iron chloride reaction; positive in iodine reaction. USE:An antimicrobial agent, a coccidiostat, acaricide, an antiviral agent, a preventive and a remedy for diarrhea and dysentery, etc. PREPARATION:A strain belonging to the genus Streptomyces, capable of producing antibiotic lysocellin B [K-9 Met<-> strain (FERM P-1148)] is cultivated and antibiotic lysocellin B is collected from the culture mixture. |
