PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording medium having excellent corrosion resistance by successively laminating a thin metallic chromium film and thin chromium oxide film in contact at least with one side of a recording layer and maintaining the light absorptivity of the recording and reproducing light of both thin films respectively within 10%. CONSTITUTION:A substrate 10 for protection is stuck by an adhesive layer 9 onto the laminated body provided with the thin chromium oxide film 2, thin metallic chromium film 3 and optical recording layer 4 on a light transmittable substrate 1 consisting of plastic or glass, etc. and successively provided further with the thin metallic chromium film 5, thin chromium oxide film 6, reflection layer 7 and protective layer 8 thereon. The films 2, 6 and the films 3, 5 may be formed at the thickness adequate for suppressing the progression of the corrosion of the recording layer within the range where the light absorptivity of the used light is kept within 10%. The thin film 6 has not only the function to improve the corrosion resistance but also the function as an interference layer to increase an S/N ratio.
