PURPOSE:To obtain a narrow track magnetic head with very less chipping by packing a nonmagnetic material to both sides constituting the track width. CONSTITUTION:Lost of tilt grooves 22 with a prescribed pitch are formed to a rectangular block 21 made of a ferromagnetic material such as ferrite and the nonmagnetic material 23 is packed to each tilt slot 22. A lengthwise groove 24 is formed to the block 21, the blocks are bonded and incorporated so as to be opposed via the nonmagnetic gap 25 to form a core block 26. The core block is cut off at the center of the packed part by the nonmagnetic material 23 and a core 27 is inserted to a notch 28 formed at one end of a slider 29 and fixed. The slider 29 is made of a nonmagnetic material such as ceramic or glass, the core 27 is fixed by melting the glass and then the floating face is polished.
