PURPOSE:To obtain a polymer economically in high polymerization yield, by polymerizing a salt of an aniline based compound in the presence of an oxidizing agent at a temperature above the melting point of the above-mentioned salt. CONSTITUTION:A salt of an aniline based compound is polymerized in the presence of an oxidizing agent at a temperature above the melting point of the above-mentioned salt. Aniline hydrochloride, etc. may be used as the salt of the aniline based compound and the oxidizing agent, e.g. hydrogen peroxide or iron trichloride, in an amount of 1/5-5 equivalents based on the above- mentioned salt is present. USE:A material for primary batteries, secondary batteries, solar cells, photoconductive materials, etc.
