PURPOSE:To automatically detect plate thickness of a work, by providing a means, which detects a relative position to the work and generates a signal, in a Z-axis slider holding a wire guide. CONSTITUTION:A Z-axis slider 12, having an upper wire guide 9, provides a contactor 13, and its point end part automatically moves to a position lower than the upper wire guide 9 only when plate thickness is measured. A position of the Z-axis slider 12 is detected by a Z-axis position detector 24 and input to a Z-axis present position counter 16. When the point end part of the contactor 13 is brought into contact with a work 4, a machine, outputting a signal from a contact detector 14, both stops movement of the Z-axis slider 12 and calculates the plate thickness of the work 4 by an arithmetic circuit 17. |
