MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having an excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristic and running durability by incorporating a fatty acid alkyl ester and fatty acid alkoxy ester into a magnetic layer and specifying the respective contents thereof with respect to ferromagnetic metallic powder. CONSTITUTION:The ferromagnetic metallic powder to be incorporated into the magnetic layer of the magnetic recording medium has the specific surface are (S BET) within a 35-65m<2>/g range. The magnetic layer in this case is so formed as to contain the fatty acid alkyl ester and fatty acid alkoxy ester respectively at 5-15wt% and 0.5-10wt% by the weight of the ferromagnetic metallic powder. The electromagnetic conversion characteristic of the resultant magnetic recording medium is not substantially improved if the specific surface area of the ferromagnetic metallic powder is below 35m<2>/g. The running durability of the magnetic layer decreases if the area exceeds 65m<2>/g.
