PURPOSE:To improve cleaning effects by composing a magnetic brush cleaning device of a magnetic brush forming means, a means which applies an AC bias to the magnetic brush forming means, and an auxiliary mechanical cleaning means. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic brush unit 3 serves as the magnetic brush forming means between a magnetic brush cleaning device and a developing device and operates for cleaning in cleaning operation by being applied with the AC bias. A fiber member 13, on the other hand, is the auxiliary mechanical cleaning means which is so provided that it is rubbed against a photosensitive drum 7 as an image carrier with proper pressing force, and the fiber member is formed by implanting natural or synthetic nonmagnetic fiber in a brush or fabric shape. When a photosensitive drum 2 enters the 2nd rotation, residual toner is rubbed against the fiber member 13 firstly, then rubbed against the magnetic brush of the magnetic brush unit 3, and attracted to the magnetic brush, so that it is removed from the photosensitive drum 7. |
