PURPOSE:To erase an unnecessary non-recording portion between new and old recording positions on a magnetic tape by stopping the operation of a full width erasure head prior to other operations at the end of the recording mode. CONSTITUTION:When a stop operation signal is inputted to an input terminal 25, an output at output terminals 24a, 24b of a system control circuit 24 goes to L and a bias oscillator 23 stops the oscillation, then the full width erasure head 8 stops the operation. On the other hand, the level of a signal at a recording output terminal 26 does not immediately go to an L level even if an output of the terminal 24b goes to L because a time constant circuit 28 comprising capacitors C1, C2 and resistors R, r1 exists between the terminals 24b and 26, the level moves gradually to the L level. As a result, the head 8 stops the erasure as soon as the mode is switched into the stop mode, but other circuits and mechanisms are kept in the recording mode for a prescribed time. |
