The apparatus for filling jars with foodstuff components differentiated by colour, especially a creamy spread, such as a chocolate and milk cream, is equipped with a dip filling device, for the two components, which can be moved out of the jar in dependence on the filling quantity and the filling speed. The dip filling device has a filling head nozzle 2, which has a number of filling apertures 8, 9 on its outside circumference in its end face facing the jar 1, the said filling apertures 8, 9 being alternately connected to the feeds of the different components A and B. By these means, sharply and clearly differentiated strips of the differently coloured components are produced which are clearly visible in the jar, so that a special, attractive appearance is produced which makes the composition of the contents of the jar clearly visible, whatever the position of the jar. <IMAGE>
