PURPOSE:To enhance sensitivity and to obtain stable potential characteristics during repeated cycles of electrostatic charging and exposure by incorporating PVAL and a specified polyvinyl acetal resin as a binder in the charge generating layer of a functionally separated photosensitive body. CONSTITUTION:The charge generating layer of the photosensitive body obtained by laminating the charge generating layer and a charge transfer layer on a conductive substrate contains as the binder the PVAL and the polyvinyl acetal resin obtained by the acetal reaction of the PVAL with one of aldehydes represented by formulae RCHO, R being 1-3C alkyl optionally halogenated, thus permitting transfer of carriers not to be hindered by the structurally weak barrier action of the binder filled among the pigment particles, accordingly, the potential characteristics of the photosensitive body to be enhanced, so, its sensitivity to be also elevated, variation of potentials in the light and the dark at the time of repeated cycles of charging and exposure to be reduced, and photomemory resistance to be improved. |
