PURPOSE:To obtain a confirming mechanism easy to insert an original and easy to confirm the position of insertion by providing an index to position the tip of the original to a specified position of an original guide and exposing the index part of the original guide. CONSTITUTION:A notched part 11 is formed in a part of armoring cover 9 that covers near an original insertion aperture 1 to expose a part of underlying original guide 6, and an index that forms an positional reference for inserting an original 3 is provided in the exposed part of the original guide 6. When an original is inserted until the tip of the original arrives at the position of index in the exposed original guide 6 from the original insertion aperture 1 by matching the side end of the original 3 with a reference guide 2, an original presence sensor detects the original. When a starting button is depressed, loaded originals 3 are sent out successively. As th notched part 11 is formed at the tip of the armoring cover, the original 3 can be inserted not only from the front of the original insertion aperture 1, but also from the notched part 11 in the direction shown by the arrow mark.
