PURPOSE:To manufacture easily a thin amorphous alloy strip having a surface nitride film by blowing gaseous nitrogen to the quickly cooled thin strip on the surface of a roll for quick cooling apart at a specified space along the outside peripheral surface of the roll for quick cooling. CONSTITUTION:The melt 2 extruded from a nozzle 1 is quickly cooled by the roll 3 under rotation at a high speed. A gas introducing pipe 5 is provided along the part near the roll surface and the gaseous nitrogen is blown from the hole 6 of the pipe 5 toward the free surface side of the thin strip. The roll side of the thin strip is not nitrided as the cooling rate is high and a nitrided layer is formed on the free surface side in contacts with the gaseous nitrogen. |
