PURPOSE:To enable a turbine to be used in from of an engine brake, accordingly getting an engine brake power compounded with an exhaust brake force, by installing a control valve for putting a bypass route in connection when the exhaust brake operates, in a bypass route bypassing the turbine. CONSTITUTION:During a normal operation, a control valve 12 is closed because an exhaust brake switch 10 is in ON state. Since the total quantity of the exhaust gas ejected from the turbine 5T of a supercharger 5 passes through a power turbine 6, the power is transmitted to the crankshaft 44 of an engine 1 through a power taking out unit 7, a reduction gear 9, thus the energy in the exhaust gas being recovered. During an operation in which an exhaust brake is actuated, the exhaust brake switch 10 is put on to open the control valve 12 located in a bypass pipe 8, and a control valve 11 provide for the power turbine 6 closes a flow passage on the inlet side of the power turbine 6. the exhaust gas ejected from the exhaust turbine 5T flows through the bypass pipe 8B. |
