PURPOSE:To generate an outline correction signal in which preshoot and overshoot are well balanced by delaying an input signal for one horizontal period by a delay means to generate a delay signal, making the difference from the input signal the first signal, demodulating it as the second signal, after delaying it for one horizontal period, with demodulating it, and finding the reminder between the two signals to generate a vertical outline correction signal. CONSTITUTION:An input signal 1 is delayed for one horizontal period by an ultrasonic delay line 10, subtracted from the input signal in a subtraction circuit 6 to generate the first signal 25. An amplitude is modulated with a subcarrier generated from a subcarrier oscillating circuit 4, and the first signal is delayed for one horizontal period by the ultrasonic delay line 10, is passed a band-pass filter 13, and is demodulated in a demodulation circuit 17 to obtain the second signal 27 in a low-pass filter 18. The signal 25 is subtracted from the signal 27 in a subtraction circuit 19 to obtain the vertical outline correction signal 28.
