<p>Water-soluble polymers with high mol.wt. prepd. by emulsion polymerisation, at 30-40% solids, are prepd. by (a) starting emulsion polymerisation with content of polymerisable solids varying between 2% and 20%, (b) adding copolymerisable surface-active cpds. in amt. of 0.1-3%, w.r.t. the monomeric solids in the emulsion, during emulsion polymerisation, and (c) adjusting the polymer content to 30-40% by azeotropic distn. of the solvent, during or after polymerisation.</p> |
