PURPOSE:To prevent the frequent driving of a specific dot printing element, by respectively driving a plurality of printing heads by shifting printing data in the arrangement direction and changing over shift driving and non-shift driving. CONSTITUTION:A control part 1 drives a space motor to drive a carriage to the space direction of paper and reads the printing data at a corresponding position from line buffer 10 to set the shift registers 21-2n of a bit shift register 2 and subsequently imparts a fire signal to a gate 3 and supplies the bit printing data of the shift registers 21-2n to a pin driver 4 to drive head pins P1-P16. Therefore, if no shift clock is given and the register performs no shift operation, an underline is printed on l16 by the pin P16 as shown by A. When the shift clock is given, the underline of l16 is printed by a pin P15 as shown by B. As a result, if printing is alternately performed, frequency is reduced by half. |
