PURPOSE:To increase the torsional rigidity of a torque transmission shaft and detect torque by connecting a steering shaft, etc., to the 1st and the 2nd shafts separately and rotatably, providing a load detector to the connection part, and detecting the displacement of the 1st and the 2nd shafts. CONSTITUTION:The 1st shaft 1 and the 2nd shaft 2 are connected together. Namely, a hole 6 is bored in the 2nd shaft 2 and the small-diameter part 5 of the 1st shaft 1 is screwed in rotatably. A flange 3, bearings 17 and 18, and annular members 15 and 16 are provided to the connection part. Further, strain gauges 19 and 20 are provided. When torque is applied to the 1st shaft 1, the 1st shaft 1 is displaced from the 2nd shaft 2 by a relative angle to press the annular members 15 and 16 through the flange 3. Consequently, pressure loads on strain gauges 19 and 20 vary, and consequently the torque is detected. Therefore, the torque difference between both shafts is detected by the load detecting element, so the value and direction of the torque are detected without making a large relative angle difference between the 1st and the 2nd shafts. |
