Carbacyclin derivs. of formula (I) and (if R2 is H) their salts with physiologically acceptable bases are new (where R1 is OR2, 1-10C alkyl, 5-6 cycloalkyl, 6-10C aryl, 7-14 aralkyl or a heterocyclic gp; R2 is H, 1-10C alkyl, 5-6C cycloalkyl, 6-10C aryl, CH2CO(6-10C) aryl or a heterocyclic gp.; A is -CH2CH2-, trans -CH=CH- or -C=C-; W is free or functionally altered hydroxymethylene or hydroxy-ethylene (where the OH gp. can be either alpha or beta); D is gp.(a), straight chain satd. 1-3C alkylene, or opt. branched unsatd. 2-5C alkylene (alkenylene) which is opt. substd. by F; n is 1,2 or 3 E is -CC-, -CR6=CR7 or is CH2CH2 is R1 is not OR2; R6 and R7 are different and are H, and 1-5C alkyl or H and halogen; R4 is 1-10C alkyl, 3-10C cycloalkyl, opt. substd. 6-10C aryl or a heterocyclic gp; R5 is a free or functionally altered OH gp.).
