PURPOSE:To measure the floating degree of a head slider in both static and dynamic ways with a simple constitution by plotting the interference light produced when a light beam is made incident on a gap between the head slider and a disk on a correlation curve between the gap and the interference light quantity. CONSTITUTION:The beam fed from a light source 1 is turned into a monochrome beam through a filter 5. This beam is projected to a slider 12 floating over a disk 11 via a half mirror 6, and the produced interference light is detected by a photosensor 7. Both the maximum and minimum levels of the interference light quantity are measured by changing the revolving speed of the disk 11 by a motor 9 and plotted on a correlation curve 20 in the form of the reference values. Then the slider 12 is set at the position of measurement and revolved at a prescribed speed. The floating degree of the slider 12 is calculated on an intermediate value zone P2 of the curve 20 from the value of a voltmeter 8. Thus, it is possible to obtain easily the slider floating degree from a correlation curve between a gap and the interference light quantity. |
