COOLING DEVICE FOR ROLLING ROLL

PURPOSE:To improve cooling efficiency by supplying cooling water along the rotating direction of a rolling roll and utilizing the other roll which contacts rotatively with said roll as a gate on the down stream side. CONSTITUTION:The outlet side of a cooling water jacket 12 is opened to the outside peripheral surface of the rolling roll 10. The backup roll 16 which contacts rotatively with the roll 10 on the cooling water outlet side is constituted as the gate on the down stream side. The cooling water pressurized by a pump 26 enters a space 11 through a water feed port 18 and flows along the rotating direction of the roll 10, thereby cooling the roll 10. The cooling water flowing out through the aperture 12B through the space 11 arrives at the contact line 22 of the roll 16 which is dragged by the rotation of the roll 10 and contacts rotationally therewith. The cooling water captured by a receiving base 20 is repeatedly circulated in the closed cycle by a heat exchanger 28 and the pump 26. The contact area between the cooling water and the rolling roll is increased by the above-mentioned method, by which the cooling efficiency is improved.
