NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (R1 and R2 are alkyl). EXAMPLE:The compound of formula II. USE:A crosslinking agent, comonomer, etc. capable of giving a copolymer suitable for metal adhesives by reaction with a polyfunctional organic acid compound. PREPARATION:For example, an orthoester compound of formula II (R5 is alkyl; R6-R6'' are alkyl), e.g. an orthopropionic acid triester, is reacted with dipentaerythritol of formula III in the presence of a catalyst, e.g. sulfobutyric acid, in an inert solvent, e.g. an aromatic hydrocarbon, at 80-250 deg.C while removing an alcohol which is a reaction by-product by evaporation. |
