PURPOSE:To easily make a belt circularly connectable by providing on the belt face a connecting and tensing device, for the belt, of peculiar structure formed by a pair of rotary roller bodies and fitting both side end parts of the belt in a gap between said roller bodies in such a manner as they overlap each other. CONSTITUTION:In case of forming a belt 18 into a circular belt, both side end parts 22, 23 of the belt are fitted in a roller gap 6 between a pair of rotary roller bodies 4, 5 of a connecting and tensing device 1 for a belt in such a manner as said both side end parts overlap each other. Then each screw part 17 of each gap adjustment device 16 provided on both side wall plates 2, 3 is screwed and the rotary shaft 8 of the rotary roller body 5 is moved to narrow the roller gap 6, the belt 18 being circularly connected in one body. On the other hand, in case of adjusting the degree of tension of the belt 18, the worm shaft 11 of a worm wheel 15 is put into rotation by means of a handle 25, and both side end parts 22, 23 of the belt 18 are sent out in C direction. The degree of tension of the belt 18 can be adjusted correspondingly to the quantity sent out.
