DETECTION SYSTEM FOR TARGET POSITION UNDER WATER

PURPOSE:To observe precisely and accurately the position of an underwater target by correcting the target position detected with a sound wave according to the temperature distribution of a sea area in the form image pickup data from an artificial satellite. CONSTITUTION:Sea water temperature distribution information based upon earth observation image pickup data from the artificial satellite is received and stored in a storage device 6 through a data processor 5. Underwater target position information sent from a sonar 7 as a sound wave is stored in a storage device 9 through an arithmetic processor 8. An arithmetic device 10 supplied with the output of a ship position self-diagnostic device 11 corrects the target position obtained with the sound wave varying in underwater refraction state with temperature according to the contents of the devices 6 and 9, so that the position of the underwater target is observed precisely and accurately.
